Hi, I'm Shannon. I LOVE to decorate, and over the years have learned
that I seem to be drawn to the finer... and usually more expensive... things
in life. Because of this, I always wanted the designer furniture I
found in the magazines or stores that was way out of my (or really
anyone's) budget. So, I apprenticed at an upholstery shop for a few
years to learn how to make that furniture myself.
Along the way, not only did I get to feed my obsession for fabric and design, but I learned some really great tricks for touching up furniture, repairing holes and nicks, and restoring antiques altogether.
I just got married in October, and learned that weddings are a lot like designer furniture. I fell in love with a Vera Wang dress that was more than half the budget of my wedding, so I hired a seamstress and we made my dress together! I also made the flowers, belt, and matching hair piece. That was my favorite part!
For my wedding, I wanted something that you didn't just see all the time, that really looked like ME, and represented who I was as a person. My general design aesthetic leans towards industrial, vintage, and retro modern. I spent hours every day scouring websites, blogs, Craigslist, flea markets, and stores looking for decor, inspiration and DIY How-To's. It was exhausting! However, it all came together beautifully, and after a few friends saw my pictures, they asked if they could buy my stuff for their weddings.
This gave me the idea of renting. Not only is it so much cheaper, but what are you going to do with all of that STUFF after your special day?? And while DIY can save you money, after so many projects, it just isn't fun anymore and your wedding should really be fun!
So here you are. I hope that you find some inspiration and hope from my website. Check out what I have on hand, but I am buying new things all the time, so don't hesitate to call and find out what's just come in. If you can't find just the right thing, then contact me. We can brainstorm together and come up with some really fun ideas. That's my favorite part! :) As well, I do custom searches so if you know what you want, just ask. Nothing is too big or too small!
And if you want that one special piece of furniture for your photo shoot, maybe a super vintage piece or to reupholster your grandmother's favorite chair, then I can do that as well.
